Awakened Silence

As a sculptor experimenting with installation art, I am primarily interested in creating work that asks viewers to be physically involved with the work, to take part and move through the work to discover hidden significance. My goal is to give viewers a more intimate connection with what they are encountering. This participation invites the viewer to become more emotionally invested, fostering empathy to the subject matter presented. Mental Illness is an epidemic in this country, a topic that most tend to tip toe around, or avoid altogether. Only through education and empathy can we promote change in societal attitudes. Without this we will continue down this detrimental path. My hopes are that the viewer has a strong connection with the content of the piece once discovering the hidden meanings within them.
